Kids International Wellness Initiative (KIWI)
ISD 833 SAC Kids Club Program and Community Education Department Staff

To address the alarming trend in childhood obesity nationally in contrast with childhood starvation globally, District 833 Community Education in connection with community partners developed the Kids International Wellness Initiative (KIWI).  KIWI is a unique program at Kids Club SAC sites designed to help kids choose healthy behaviors, learn about world hunger and empower them to be change makers.  The KIWI challenge mentors kids to increase their physical activity, improve their diets, reduce screen time and volunteer to help other people.  Kids track their activities and point totals are converted into money to purchase food for an African orphanage
