MnAEYC and MnSACA Welcome Sharon Bergen as Our New Executive Director!

The Minnesota Association for the Education of Young Children (MnAEYC) and the Minnesota School Age Care Alliance (MnSACA) announced August 9 that Sharon Bergen will be their new Executive Director.

Ms. Bergen brings to the position a lifetime of work in school-age and early childhood. She most recently worked at the National Association of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies, and previously worked as a senior vice president of education and training at Knowledge Learning Corporation. She has worked within many capacities to benefit the school-age and early childhood fields; including program development, child care center operations, and training programs for teachers and center directors. Over the course of her career she has participated in a variety of task forces and committees, and has authored numerous training manuals, curricula and books.

“As someone who has long been in the field, from working directly with children to training their providers, I’m excited to take on this new endeavor,” said Ms. Bergen, who has been a long time member of MnAEYC and has presented at the organizations’ annual conferences. “Their mission of supporting professionals and promoting quality is something I have worked toward my entire career, and I’m honored to take the position.”

Summer Field Trip Initiative

MnSACA and MnAEYC are once again pleased to offer discounted tickets for summer field trips! We have partnered with five different groups this summer to offer the best prices possible for group tickets. Each of our summer field trip initiative partners has either given us lower than normal group rate tickets; or has matched their group rate ticket prices and are giving a donation to MnSACA/MnAEYC for every ticket purchased; or in some cases, they are doing a combination of both! This allows you to bring participants in your programs to great events and support your statewide professional membership organization at the same time. Contact MnSACA/MnAEYC at 651-646-8689.
